Hi Subtropical growers,

Ive got 3 beds full of winter veg at the moment, so much so that my wife and i can hardly keep up with it but im planning what to grow next anyway.

These beds are only newly constructed in March as no dig garden beds and were planted a bit haphazardly. I was thinking of doing a square foot gardening approach next season to plan things a bit better and ive now got 3 big compost bins full to add to the beds for the next seasons crop. If i were to strip the beds back to spread the new compost over what would be a good time/month to do this in for Brisbane? Is this even necessary or could i just side dress each new planting?

Also any tips on when to start next seasons seedlings?

Ive got an absolute glut of tomatoes coming, but they are ripening slowly due to the colder nights and i would be most reluctant to cut their season short.

Thanks for the advice.

G'Day and welcome Cornelius.

Hellva patch you've got going there. Looks strong and healthy. Well done.

I'm sure the sun-trop members will chime in with their tries and tested spring / summer suggestions. In the meantime, I've found https://www.gardenate.com/ to be helpful. Just pick your country, climate zone and it'll provide planting suggestions and timings for each month of the year. sign up for free and get their monthly planting reminder email.

I keep forgetting about Gardenate! Need to get on that app again

Thanks for the tip GKW. Ive decided not to stip the whole patch back and just proceed with planing next seasons crop in gaps as they become available.

Each month I write an article for Mark to publish about what to plant next month or next season, but he is so busy he hasn't been able to publish them.
I asked him if I could use them to make posts in this forum so the information got to members but he hasn't been able to reply.
When I write articles for him he owns them once I send him the link so I can't then just use them here.
