In this video we get to see the results on Mark's (and TheWeedyGarden's) experiment on electroculture gardening. [Click here for part 1]
We all strive for bigger and healthier plants, so why not try our hands at electroculture? So, Mark placed four of these copper antennas and planted corn, eggplant and chillis. He also used a control bed, with the same plants but no copper antennas. TheWeedyGardener did the same experiment back home, using the same seedlings.
10 days later, the plants in the electroculture bed were growing fine, and so were the weeds. The control bed was full of weeds also.
1 month after planting, Mark noticed that the cockatoos had sadly damaged some of the corn in the electroculture bed. The eggplant had started to flower, as well as the chillis.
In the control bed, the corn appeared slightly bigger, by about a foot, and starting to flower on top. The flowering eggplants were infested by ladybeetle. The chillis seemed to be doing okay, looking not as good as the other bed.
9 weeks after planting, Mark harvested the corn from the electroculture bed. There were signs of an infestation of corn grubs.
In the control bed, the corn grew more or less at the same rate, however there appeared to be more pest damage.
Over the next month, Mark harvested the eggplant and chillis from both beds. Both had grown well in both beds.
Even though it's now at the end of their seasons, the chillis are still growing really well and have plenty of fruit still left to ripen and get picked.
In the control bed it seems like both the chilli and eggplant grew slightly bigger. There is a chance that this bed had a few more nutrients than the electroculture bed.
Mark doesn't think he will consider electroculture in the future, as he prefers gardening to be easy, and electroculture takes a fair bit of extra work/setting up.
