Anyone growing Galangal?

Hi all
Has anyone grown Galangal? I assume it grows pretty much like ginger.
I planted some out last year and didn’t harvest after they died down as I wanted a stronger plant. Is that what you do?
They now have their new growth but I’m not sure when to harvest. Any tips?
