Just came across the videos yesterday, and it was love at first sight.
I've had a garden (of sorts) for 10 years, but with lockdown I gave it the attention it needed and now I'm hooked. I discovered okra, Mexican sour gherkins, and the idea of a fall garden. Also unfortunately discovered cucumber beetles and vine borers, but I'm learning how to fight back against those organically. I downloaded the Insect Id app, and honestly identifying bugs has become part of the fun. I'm limited by yard size to a main garden of about 100 square feet, but managed to convince the husband to let me add a tomato bed that's 2' x 12' next to our back deck, AND a pumpkin patch to help reclaim the soil where we had two big trees taken down last year. OK, so he doesn't know it's going to be a pumpkin patch yet, but I'm sure he'll be thrilled.
Last year I got into hot water bath canning and various types of fermenting, moved on, and now I'm back into that as well. I absolutely LOVE that there are fermentation recipes shared here!
This year was a big success, with probably 100 pounds of watermelon, successful tomatoes for the first time ever, eggplants, and lots of green beans. Next year, though... next year's garden plan is code-named LEVIATHAN.
