Climate
Sub-Tropical
After seeing yacon in your “10 foods not in supermarket” video I couldn’t help myself and ordered a healthy propagation from an online nursery. My local nursery has never heard of it so I’m excited to share it with them. I think our climates are similar Do you have “5 tips to grow a ton of yacon”? 🤣 I believe the climate in the part of Texas I live in is similar to yours so I’m hoping it grows well

I've had a little look around and it doesn't seem like he has an in-depth video around Yakon. To be fair, in that video (around 2 years ago now) he was rather new at growing it himself.

Mark lives in a sub-tropical climate, with dry Winters and wet Summers, as do I, but I live more towards a mix of sub-tropical to tropical.

mostly the same kind of climate here wet and humid summers with very high heat. Our winter in southeast Texas can be cold and wet but the greenhouse helps a lot. I’ve noticed the yacon in a few of the other videos so im really hoping he will be able to give some insight. I’ve started it out with the cliche good free draining soil rich with organic matter 🤣 I figured being a tuber if I treat it like ginger or turmeric it will be ok

Most likely. And if you keep check of your plant, it's often quite easy to tell what they need.
I'm currently working on reviving one of granddad's potted tree saplings. It looked dead as could be, but I noticed there was still a little green on there. So I cut off everything dead (to his dismay - he thought I was killing it, even though all the leaves were shriveled and un-recoverable). I've noticed some new leaves recently!
But the same goes for any plant; a little bit of tender love and they'll likely do just right.

Keep us updated, I'd love to learn about it too :D
