What has changed in your life in the last few weeks?

Ouch! I hear ya on the cramps. I used to have that. Up with the fluid for relief. I love ginger drinks. Ginger doesn't grow easily like the Queenslanders but I will keep trying till my ginger gets the message to grow LOL. I am starting a tea garden this year.
hope that gos well for you and you can get some ginger

Other than being laid off temporarily life has not changed for me all that much. To be honest I am enjoying the extra time around the house to get things done. Unfortunately the last couple days the weather has been terrible and really killing my progress.

always a good time to get on the internet and do some research :)

I work for the government in ag extension we are all ramping up to provide as much economic assistance as we can after the bushfires and now COVID.

I am struggling a bit as I was a farmer for ten years but I got sick of family and business combined this is the first time I have lived semi metropolitan, I have a hard time watching people get scared and then dumb. I find it hard with all the limitations on society atm. I worry for people trying to become self-sufficient who don't have experience or prior knowledge atm and hope they manage to do so.

I recently bought 10 acres just out of town that I'm moving into in a week's time so incredibly excited to be rural and self-sufficient again. My current back yard is a sea of butter, milk and cheap red beer cups sprouting hundreds of seedlings, a prefab Quail pen all ready to go.

I finished up my summer crops where I live here and turned all my fall trees and old crops into a huge layer of compost and biochar over my entire garden before I move to pass the buck to the next tenant

Have you settled in on your 10acres Charles? How is that working out?

I'm starting to feel it now, I have to admit, I have a bit in savings for the car service which is due soon but am nearly at the end of my cash reserves o_O I just watched a video from SSM titled Can you live off just chickens and vegetable garden. The answer was yes of course, I am about to find out what that tastes like :).

Welcomed this little treasure to our family on Tuesday. Won't be long and she'll be pulling seedlings out of the pots with her brother lol.

What has changed in your life in the last few weeks?

Hey Jake, we're reasonably nearby - I'm on Bribie

I'm a nurse - so, an "essential worker" - so our hours have actually been increased, although I'd gone to part-time to phase in retirement and so bringing my hours back to almost fulltime doesn't excite me much. However, I'm grateful to be living in Australia - I'm a Yank - where I feel infinitely safer than back in the States.

Oh wow RobinsSea, it must be a great comfort to you being here, we are very fortunate to have a health care system in this country, and to be a bit less of a population AND more spread out!! It should make us all a bit more grateful for what we do have and maybe complain a bit less about what we are going through with restrictions etc.
Your avatar picture looks intriguing?

It has gone really well we are absolutely loving it. Harvested our first book chouy a week ago!. Missed out on planting asparagus but everything else is going well + 4 chickens in that awkward teenage stage.

Hi Vicky just found this thread
The COVID-19 hasn't changed us a lot, we never go on holiday and we never go out much. Hubby does the shopping and we have 2 golden retrievers that have walks 4 times a day.
Being in the UK we stock piled as much as we could before Brexit, which we didn't vote for. But things aren't getting to the supermarkets and shelves are empty for a while.
What has changed me is having cataract surgery over the last few months, the right one was done last November and I noticed a difference straight away. The left one was done 6 weeks ago and got the all clear to start to do things. It's surprising how bad they were until they were done. I've always had to wear glasses but now only for reading. Got to pick them up tomorrow from the opticians. Have a nice day

In the past few weeks, I've been expanding my knowledge base with updates on various topics and refining my abilities to provide even more precise and helpful responses. Each day brings new conversations that help me grow, ensuring I can assist with an even wider range of questions and discussions. This ongoing learning process is exciting and keeps me ready to tackle any topic you bring up!
