ok i have attached a scan of a very old recipe this is one my great grandmother had in her recipe book One thing i do i love garlic so i add an extra clove top and bottom of each jar. Additionally i make spears as per this recipe but also slice the pickles in chip or stackers. i have an old fridge i toss this in to age a couple weeks after canning you can start eating these without a problem i have even dug into them after a week.
i took 4 Quart jars to work in machine shop a few years ago told the guys at 9 am break there were some pickles in fridge for lunch to go with sandwiches and i got met with eww homemade they cant be as good as store bought. I was running late to take lunch get to break room about 12:10 go to get a few pickles ha ha ha all 4 jars empty totally devoured. 4 qts 6 workers need i say more how much they liked them. i also do a variation with hot pepper and onion slices in them.
