Hey all. I am trying to plan ahead what I will use for mulch in my vegetable garden this year. Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences with using pine straw or pine needles for mulch in the vegetable garden? It's used a lot for landscaping mulch around here but I've never seen it used in a vegetable garden.

In my raised garden beds I use sugar cane mulch. On my ground garden bed I’m using forest mulch. I’ve only used this for a year it seems to of done wonders for the garden and you can often get it for free

I have used ground up pine needles as mulch ( bagged from a nursery ) and fallen pine needles in raised beds/pots before adding growing medium and I have not experienced any ill effects.
I know many people claim that it adds acidity to the soil, but I have read and watched videos of people I trust
that attest that it is not much of an issue, as it breaks down well before it could cause adverse affects.
