My favorite hen died sometime last night. I’m glad I carried her and loved on her yesterday. She is now laid to rest near the feeder roots of my apple tree. Her last act of service after helping hatch out this spring’s chicks is fertilizing our fruit forest. Rest In Peace Henrietta!
