Yeah the soil doesn’t seem great. In terms of texture, it’s quite sandy. I was rooting around (pun absolutely intended) a few days ago and it seems the same all over the field.
No worms, no beetles or anything.
I think I might try to get a rotovator to dig up the soil and mix it up (to save on my back!) and mix in some good compost, pull out the bigger weed roots.
And just go in stages.
I got a big pile of tree leaves and cuttings from a nearby house, so that’ll be a good base for some compost. Really just need to get on with sourcing the pallets. I could get a dalek/pepper pot conical compost bin, but I’d rather do some pallet bays.
