Hello,
i am 69 y woman widowed sold small acres 2020 after loss too lonely , bought suburban corner block 890sq mtrs block with house (share with daughter 42 with disability )but lot of yard(worst amount of lawn on council verge) beds which had rock and cement edged lawn patches and garden beds with very little useful plants some tropical some just mixed.
Planting all outer beds along fences native trees and shrubs some bush tucker , front area house is mostly ornamental many roses (some came from previous house planted by late Husb.)
bush and climbing roses , found mowing the lawn areas with rock surrounds dangerous so like a bull at a gate pushed ahead with(daughter help) removing everything in beds in retaining walls along house and around raised beds on lawns , dug out soil used in raised beds mixed with compost etc. planned to put 2 raised beds on 1 large section of the lawn area now 7 beds gravel around(drainage help when we have torrential rain) filled with dwarf fruit trees and vines all espaliered planted on the 19th Aug. a work in progress, have 4 others raised b. with fruit trees not fully dwarf but smaller growth a mad fruiting dwarf mulberry in ground gets soo much fruit its amazing , along back of house paving and metal fence between my and neighbours gets very hot so have raised beds on paving which was in the end sensible as there is 60cm of crushed very fine rock under paving started with 3 raised beds now have 11 lining fence 3 large to provide privacy from neighbours pool area filled with Australian natives which love heat /dryness rest a work in progress 5 to 6 get a lot of shade in the afternoon so will be fruiting vines got a dwarf banana out there and raspberries ,blueberrys to plant , getting a kiwiberry and dwarf pomegranate into beds on paving , have couple areas still to go keep changing and expanding uses of yard areas will be an oasis of sorts excess fruit can go to my other daughters and if that much there is a food market every week locally as for veges that will come later as the day i planted the fruit trees i fell and fractured left wrist so slowing any progress, bought this house so as to enable my disabled d. to have her own half of the house which is how it has turned out renovated garage end into living (Council approved) whilst doing renovations had 3 rainwater tanks installed so only use rain to water gardens , i feel incredibly fortunate to have my own home in these times so i intend to make the most of the yard and keeps me interested i love gardening , hope ive not rambled. tried to post photos but not good with pcs so another time

Welcome to the forum @Vera !

I'm sorry for your loss.

It looks like you did some amazing work! Wowza :D
I love what you've done with the place. It looks great. I see you have some bags of mulch ready to go too. That's awesome with the upcoming Summer. How hot does it get over there?

On this forum we love a good ramble, but I wouldn't call this a ramble yet at all. Don't fret 🤗
