Formally released in the last few hours (as at starting this thread) is a new fishing invention and a revolutionary way to trawl for fish by using a net made from PVC which enables the all fish to be caught alive and undamaged!
The net invention (6 years in the making) acts like a large tunnel balloon almost like a collapsible water tank which captures the fish and allows smaller by-catch to escape via small exit doors whilst retaining the target catch. Any larger animals not wanted are carefully surfaced in this balloon pvc net, sorted from the target species and thrown back into the sea alive and well.
This fishing trawling invention is said to change the way the world harvests the oceans making the procedure far more sustainable and environmentally friendly than traditional trawling where just about everything is killed including undersized fishes and non-targeted protected species. In traditional trawling over the past 150 years fish are "strained" with a nylon net and most fish are dead or too damaged to survive by the time they reach the boat.
This invention seems to have solved many negative aspects of trawling for fish.
I give this the double thumbs up
