Hello Gardening People! We (my husband and myself) have been fans of Mark’s gardening show for a few years but never knew about this forum - found it looking for that shovel they were advertising on the site called a Prong. We haven’t found how to get it in the states yet but really do want it!

We have retired in the middle of the States in the Ozark mountains. Our soil is good IF you can get around the rocks, and this is why we want the Prong tool - nothing but rocks everywhere!

Thank you folks for having me on this forum, hope I can help and learn from all the wonderful people on this site. God bless you all! :)

Welcome to the forum @Poppy !

Sadly the prong is currently unavailable, I'll explain further in the post you made around it.

Ahh, I hear you! I've got quite some rocks in the ground here too, though I'm starting to contemplate just building a raised bed over them. You sometimes don't know you're there until you try going into the ground in my case. I'm currently using an old hoe to dislodge the rocks; whack it into the ground next to them and pull. If I get really desperate I might use fencing prybar as it's heavy and really quite long (ours is probably 1,7m long). Seeing as the prong is currently unavailable I've been tempted to learn how to weld so I can put that step on it.

Happy to have you with us! Feel free to ask any questions you may have :D

Thank you.

It’s late Winter here and we have started seeds in the house. Our basement has turned into a garden for winter growing and we do have tomatoes growing up long rope’s up to the ceiling. Cabbage, blueberries, broccoli, ....just a variety of plants. Some like the blueberries will be replanted outside in another month after the frost has stopped so we don’t lose the flowers.

Very nice welcome @mandy, that is appreciated 😊

Here is a pic of part of our grow room, we used emergency blankets on the walls - very inexpensive but easy to put up with tape and works great! You can get those off Amazon and I’m sure other places. The lights were not cheap but with good one’s we do have fruit (ie; tomatoes) growing, this is our first attempt at growing inside in the winter.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi Poppy and welcome to the forum 🤗

looking good in your basement. It's like a mini jungle 😍
you might want to look into @DThille 's Posts for inspiration. He lives up in Kanada zone 5 if I remember correctly. Might be colder there but he has a really big project going.
cheers

Oh wow, that looks amazing! Love the use of emergency blankets for the walls - I don't think I would ever have thought of that.
I agree with Lunai that Dthille has amazing things going - especially as he is ready to start even more projects upcoming Spring and Summer.
Another person I would really recommend is @daveb . He's mastered hydrophonics and indoor growing to a T. Definitely recommend checking out his posts for inspiration, as it'd show you his indoor setups.

yes if you look at the hydroponics i use the mylar film reflect light back in so you utilize the max affect of light, poppy plants look like they could use a bit more light they are a little leggy , if you have a home depot near by go down look at their LED shop light they are 4 foot led i cant remember if 5000 or 5500 kelvin and one i got were about $38 usd toss in 3 or 4 to help foliage and they will also help the basic overall plant
