Ahh that's a pretty nice temperature! We're in the low 20's C, with night temperatures around 6C. But our house isn't unsulated quite right so the nights get really cold, haha.

Hello neighbour !
Welcome to the forum. I'm from just over the channel living in germany 👋
That's at least somewhat closer as anyone else around here on this forum 🤣
These people are very friendly and helpfull so don't be afraid to ask question.
Our weather should be pretty similiar, albeit yours beeing much more wet than ours.
Maybe you could send us some rain? I'll give you a week or so of dry and sunny weather instead?🤔
Everything is already dry af🫣

And @Mandy Onderwater darling.... the low 20's is still warmer that what we have right now.... 😅 so please.... don't complain about it being cold 😁 I do agree, that 6°C is quite chill, and I do remember the not so well insulated houses from my time in Brisbane. We only had 12°C at the hottest time of the day yesterday with lots of wind and no sun yesterday, and today is said to be the same😅 so after a week full of 18 °C days we now have to put on jackets again🙄🫣

Welcome. Like Mandy, who is in Aus, here in NZ we are heading into winter after a wet ”summer”. Still warm during the day, mid teens, but cooler at night, which is nice for sleeping. Gardens are gearing up for winter production. Cheers

Ah the good ol' debate about who's got the most chill weather. Never ceases to amuse me. There's two things to consider if you ever want to win that debate:

1. Humidity. There's a good reason why deserts are often said to feel colder than an area covered in several feet of snow in winter, because the extremely dry air makes it feel colder. "It's a different type of cold", and that statement isn't wrong. It's called the wet bulb effect. The more humid it is, the warmer it feels. At 100% humidity, 36C becomes a deadly heat to be in - it will kill everyone - because we can't sweat to cool down because the air is saturated and our sweat doesn't evaporate; but at 10% humidity we can cope with temperatures as high as 50C because we're able to more easily sweat to cool down. The same applies with cold temperatures. The more humid it is, the warmer it will feel, so 6C at 70% humidity is going to feel warmer to us than 6C at 20% humidity.

2. What we're acclimated to. Take any person from an area that is 40C when they've gotten used to it, and drop them somewhere that's 20C and they're going to shiver and get goosebumps on their skin and think it's cold for a while until they acclimate. Take any person from an area that is 0C when they've gotten used to it and drop them somewhere that's 20C and they're going to feel uncomfortably warm and may even break a sweat until they acclimate.

So yes, 6C is a bit chilly anywhere, but it's going to be a lot more or less chilly depending on where you are and what you're used to. It's also why a heatwave of 28C in France kills people, but for most of Australia that's just a warm day.

If someone is complaining that their weather is too cold - or too hot - believe them, even if it's the same temperature where you are and you think it's a lovely day.
