I would really like to grow Ginger and Turmeric. Any ideas if this is possible in North Texas? Will they survive a harsh winter in raised bins? Will they survive the hot 38 + C temperatures? Any help would be great.

I am unsure but I believe it's a tropical to temperate plant. I do think they'd survive your hot temperatures, but I'd say during winter they'd at the very least die back. I know they can grow back after winters, but I don't know their temperature ranges exactly.

Thanks for the response. I'll give them a try in the spring. Hopefully they will be more like a perennial.
