After I saw Mark's youtube video about growing ginger, I decided to give it a try. So happy to report that the 4 pieces I planted have all sprouted and are about 8" tall.

I am so inspired I just planted a dozen more pieces. It seems to do really well in this climate (Playa del Carmen Mexico). We are coming into the "winter" months here, so it won't be crazy hot. Hopefully I will have a lovely harvest of ginger and a few months!

Having a good sized pot of ginger always producing a few roots as needed is great in the tropics.
I have a container about 1/4 square metre that is always producing with peaks in spring and autumn.
I used to make my own ginger softdrink. But not so much these days.

Nowadays I grow it for the gorgeous pink flowers.
