Hi @Mark - this is our second season with the raised beds done in a Hugelkultur style inspired by you. Have you ever had a significant amount of fungi growing in your beds? Fungi are decomposers, so there's nothing wrong with it and forest floors are fungal-dominated (over bacterially dominated). This year we've been quite moist and we've had fruiting heads pop up from below the mulch as well as some at the base of one of the beds. We do want to keep the ground level growth under control in case the dog should decide to try it and we don't know how edible they may be.

I have a photo, but I'm not seeing it on this device - I'll have to check my iPad and reply.

OK, so I went out and took new photos…perhaps I just dreamt I’d previously taken an image or two.

We do have some fungal fruiting bodies in some of the other beds, so perhaps it’s just a sign of the moisture we have overall this season.
