I turn 30 this December. I’m a stay at home mom to 3 kids. I was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disease when I was 11. I have very bad balance and walking is difficult and causes pain, working is out of the question. To help with the financial strain of 3 kids and a wife on one income and no government assistance, I started hatching and raising chickens, breeding rabbits, and gardening in raised beds. We have muscadine vines, blueberry bushes, thornless blackberries, a plum tree, a peach tree, and a grafted 5-in1 apple tree. My raised beds were filled halfway with branches I cleaned out of the fence row, leaves, and the bedding from my neighbors chicken coop. I top up with rabbit poop when I have enough collected.

Welcome to the forum. Raised beds are such a blessing aren't they! And nothing is more calming than holding a fluffy little baby poultry of any kind. My personal favourites are baby ducks and geese, but chickens are adorable as well, though baby quail take being a cute tiny ball of fluff to a whole new level.
