Hi All, New to the forum, have been watching Marks videos for awhile. i am in the process of setting up some new pots and garden beds, i have a heap of usable cardboard. Question is, what is the best way to use it to build a better soil. I know (i hope) cardboard is the Carbon, while green leaves etc are nitrogen so should i layer this a few times in a new pot or garden before adding the top soil? as an example in a large pot could i build the first 1/2 cardboard and green clippings layer by layer for the first 1/2 then use a good potting mix to top it off. will this be a good thing or waste of time. Thanks.

For raised beds I've seen plenty of people use it as a (temporary) weed barrier, before topping it off with soil. Others have shredded it so it decomposes faster.
Personally, I like to use the sheets as mulch. For pots I cut them to size and a hole in the center for the plant to grow through. Great weed barrier, and helps slow down evaporation after watering.

i have found areas i have used cardboard in as a weed control i have a higher number of worms i think simple fact it helps to also hold moisture and is basically like composting leafs

I sometimes like using cardboard as mulch when I put bits of banana peel in my raised pots. The worm-count is amazing after that, and the soil healthy as could be.
