Hey everyone,

I'm looking to insulate my garage door and wanted some advice. My garage gets pretty cold in winter and hot in summer, so I’m trying to stabilize the temperature.

Has anyone had success with DIY garage door insulation kits?

I’ve seen options like foam board, fiberglass, and reflective insulation. Are there any brands or materials you recommend?

Also, are there any specific tips to watch out for during installation?

I want something effective but also cost-efficient.

Excuse the words chosen as I do not know the correct namings, especially not in English.

My parents used reflective insulative lining with mineral wool on one side. The wool side faced a foam board, and they attached the pieces to one another. This was put against the inside of the garage door (reflective side facing the door) and they filled the gaps with some leftover wool.

Eventually we realised we were never going to use the garage door anyway, so we put a plywood board against the lot and nailed it all shut, so dad could put his workbench against it and hang some tools off the board.

@victorjessie when you have a problem, some pictures and environmental descriptions would always be handy. It is very difficult to comment not seeing what you're dealing with. Especially with building questions. It would also be great to mention which part of the world your in as not all materials and/or building codes are the same around the planet.

Just a handy dandy tip :sawwood:
