Mid last year I finally bit the bullet and purchased a log splitter, I spent a heap of time trying to find something reasonable for an affordable price and ended up with a Black Diamond 40t.
I bought it from best-buys on Ebay, These guys have a heap of bad ratings but I found that they have Aussie support staff and are easily contactable/ helpful. They quickly replaced the key/start mechanism that failed on its second use.
I highly recommend this thing, it helps make a job that usually took half a day down to about an hour.

Splits some of the toughest and kinked logs.

Cons (if any)
Does not include tooling.
Requires assembly.
Insufficient vacuum tube for hydraulic pump pickup.(see pic)
Powder coat flaked in some spots after a short period of time.
Support rail bent after minimal use.

Other Information
I would look to modify it to have a stopper to prevent a log coming back with the splitting wedge when stuck.
Make sure you have it covered, couple of days in heavy rain somehow filled the cylinder. A quick service and water removal and she runs like a champion.
