Love how they have rounded off the Wax\Propolis entry to their hive only a week after the split, these 2 hives are going gangbusters, could watch them for hours, they are loving all the flowers around the property
They have a couple of uses, screwed onto the front of the box its designed to stop vermin from nesting in brood boxes as well as a quick way to reduce the entrance or close up the hive for transportation but still have ventilation. Slide the yellow tabs to where you need them and away you go :)
i keep a heap of chooks, lost a few to carpet pythons over the years, loves snakes also, used to breed them so no biggy just relocate them to the nearest forestry
eat some, egg some, sell some

we get heavy rain on occasions but have had 2 massive downpours 1 including hail that this garden survived really well, the lomandra will assist greatly on the banks and the rest of the plants will also help out :)
Had to place drainage down next to the wife's studio, and it had alittle run off area, decided to go for a 90% native riverbed run, nearly finished and its looking mint

we have two large Euro hives also, they have just given us 60 odd Kilos of Honey, and we still have to harvest a heap more frames, the honey is bloody awesome, lovely and dark (been out in the forestry) prior to us getting them, we have just swapped them into the new boxes and new...
the old boxes were with us for about 4 yrs, but prior to that the previous owner had them out in the foresty, rain and more rain and weather took their toll.:)
