I live in New York zone 6b and two of my raised bed gardens have been infested with jumping earthworms. An invasive species that have been destroying my soil.
I have been physically removing them and this morning I pick out at least 120 of those in just one bed. I am just terrified it's going...
That was an excellent article. And you are right, it looks very similar to what I have. Hopefully it is just a ripening process.
Will update once the verdict is in.
Hi Mandy,
I found one web article where it says tomato fruits (or flowers) can only grow on new stems (branches) and not existing stem. Which is why I was nervous about topping so early in the growing season.
So I am curious, when your plants snap (sorry to hear that happened twice), did you...
Sorry, I should have included pictures. Here it is.
I never grown tabasco peppers before so I don't know what sunburnt peppers looked like. Does the pictures I have below looked like a typical sunburnt pepper?
Thanks all.
A closeup
I have lots of peppers on my tabasco pepper plants. The fruit are full grown (about 1 to 1.5 inch) but it remained green for about 3 weeks. About 5% of the crop have streaks of purple in it. Tabasco pepper suppose to turn yellow then red.
I have doing research on the internet and can't find...
My indeterminate tomato (red cherry and opalka) is doing very well. Too well in fact. It is taller than the trellis cage (about 4 foot tall) that I built and it is mid July.
My first frost date in mid Oct so I have 3 more months of growth. At this rate, I don't know if my trellis can handle...
Very interest in growing spices myself so looking forward to your progress. BTW, I went to your blog but the "Blog" link (in the menu) goes to a empty page. Rather confusing.
Isn't it dependent on the type of peppers grown? For example, I can grow Thai Hot Pepper plant in a 2 gallon pot easily but I would reserve a 7 gallon pot for a California Wonder Bell Peppers. If it helps, I usually research the specific plants root depth and get the appropriate pot for it.
I really want to supplement my indoor plants with compost but I have too many bad experiences with pests invasions (particularly aphids, gnats). I read about sterilization via solar, oven and microwave. What are your thoughts on it and is there any other methods?
Ooh... That is something I am very interested in growing. Alas, I have too many projects going on now. Something I have to shelve for now. Let me know how it turns out.
I do add citrus peel to my biochar along with some compost into my biochar to breakdown/inoculate it over the winter. I am not sure if it works but I am hoping the acid in the peel will offset the alkaline nature of my biochar.
