How to stop fast draining (Turned out, I didn't need to)

Well as it turns out my tomato may have been suffering nutrient deficiency, but it also for sure had curly top virus. The purple veins are a dead giveaway. Also pH is 6.5, and Potassium is good, but Nitrogen and Phosphorous have gone on walkabout. Let the fertilizing commence.

How to stop fast draining (Turned out, I didn't need to)

I guess this is kind of a garden log for me now. Today I noticed that my tomato plants leaves were curling up, they did not have yellowing fringes. I also noticed my cucumber and corn had yellowing leaves. After some research it appears maybe Nitrogen deficiency. I have not fertilized since...

    My Homebrewing Escapades

Funny this should pop up. I should be receiving my first bee hive this week (originally to pollinate my garden/property), but I am also going to give a shot at brewing a few meads. Ill also have blueberries, muscadines, and pineberries, so maybe flavored as well. Woot.

    USA source for Rosella seeds?

That would be awesome! I'll happily pay for the seeds and shipping. We have TONS of those little green spiders. Seem like unobtrusive little guys. I'll DM you more info. :D I love this place!

    USA source for Rosella seeds?

Hey there. Does anyone have a source in the USA for Rosella seeds? I can only find them listed on ebay and Amazon. The Ebay listings have no reviews, and the Amazon listings don't induce a lot of confidence in the seeds being correct, or viable. Followup question. Would anyone from...

    Weeping Willow needs some oomph

Thanks, I think we are going to fertilize it, and this winter we are going to cut it back alot. Not sure what else to do unless we just get a different tree.

    Cheap irrigation system

Nicely done. I am planning to add a rainwater irrigation system to my garden very soon as well. Ill have two 275 gallon tanks, a pump scavenged from a hot tub or pool, and buried lines to the raised beds.

    Weeping Willow needs some oomph

My wifes favorite tree is a weeping willow. It reminds her of her late father. So last year for our anniversary I got her one and planted it dead center of the front yard in hopes for it to be a focal point. Currently this is its status. So my question is... if I cut this thing back (in...

How to stop fast draining (Turned out, I didn't need to)

Thanks Mark. Since my last post we've been doing the best we can to care for it. Seems things are going well!! We will indeed add some compost and cow manure after this planting. I'm also gonna build another bed just like this beside this one to do your walk under trellis style growing...

To separate or not... that is the question

Thats an excellent idea. Hah. Who'd have thought my first garden experiment would be happening so soon.

To separate or not... that is the question

Ive planted two 4" pots of green okra into my garden. Each one now has 3 solid stalks. Ive been told both to separate them, and also the opposite. Both people touting higher yields and healthier plants. What say you? They are all almost certainly different plants.

    Honey Bee's

Im hoping to get a hive at my house soon. My moms partner has several and is a bee keeper so he is going to bring me a hive box and colony to start things of with. I get the pollinators and he gets the honey sans one jar. Its a win win I hope. Please post pics when you break them down. Also...

How to stop fast draining (Turned out, I didn't need to)

Thanks Andrew! The mulch seems to have helped tremendously, here's hoping for a good harvest. Gonna let it go for now, and add some clay and compost before the next planting season.

How to stop fast draining (Turned out, I didn't need to)

Everything is looking ok after a heavy rain last night, though half of what we planted isnt sprouting yet.
