These grew in our back woods every May around Mothers Day. In moving west to BC I am really going to miss these guys! We also had wild porcini/ boletus that grew around Labour day. Both are great stored dry.
They are delicious...No they will not be available from Mother Nature where I am moving to. They need the right mix of everything and are fickle. Some years were great and others not so much, This was a great bounty and I dried several bushels! You take advantage of them when they are plentiful. Using dried they are amazing rehydrated for stock, gravies, soups scrambled eggs!!!
