This is so easy it is ridiculous!

Just a few bits of old wood laid around like this allows for watering but the gaps are just small enough to make it inconvenient for cluckles to scratch there. There are 2 banana plants in this photo, the other is at top of photo under text. They were recently planted & cluckles got into them straight away which I didn't want. So I just laid these old bits of wood around in a lattice pattern & chooks lost interest right away. They do walk over the boards to eat weed leaves etc but don't scratch.

I just edited your title slightly and added "Tip" to the prefix so people can easily reference this excellent information.

I've done similar things around our banana trees to stop our dog from digging up the dead chickens I bury under the trees (old layers drop off the perch from natural causes) they make a top fertiliser.

Whatever works I say!

Thanks for that Mark. Sometimes the little menu pops up so I can select what type of post it is. Other times it doesn't pop up (or down :p ). It's like using the quote button. Sometimes I get it to work, other times not. It may be my security software at work being 'helpful' !

Yeah I have the same issue with the quote drop-down too. Intermittent for me.

Cool tip too @ClissAT, thanks

Yeah noted... It happens to me also! I'll look into it and see if I can find the stem of the problem.
