So we've been buying activated nuts for years now but the price is getting a bit ridonculous. So has anyone tried it for themselves? Apparently it's not that hard, soak nuts in salted water overnight (but not so long for cashews) and then chuck them in the dehydrator. Will post pack after my experiment unless anyone adds some tips. :)

Never heard of activated nuts. What are they and what is special about them compared to normal nuts?

First off they taste a LOT better than normal nuts.

What are activated nuts?
Activated nuts have beensoaked in waterand salt for a period of time, which starts off the germination or sprouting process, thendehydratedat a low temperature. Soaking increases the nutrient value of the nuts along with breaking down the problematic compounds that help enhance their digestibility.

Why you need to activate nuts
Raw nuts are a fantastic healthy snack, loaded with protein, healthy fats, fibre and important minerals likezinc, magnesiumand calcium. However, nuts also contain natural chemicals that can interfere with the absorption of these nutrients. Raw nuts contain phytic acid andenzymeinhibitors that can reduce the body’s ability to absorb certain nutrients properly. Eating large amounts of raw nuts can put extra pressure on yourdigestive systemand may cause uncomfortable digestive symptoms like bloating, heaviness and nausea. So what’s the answer? Activate them!"

So easier to digest as well as tasty. :)

Never heard of them either but it is interesting!

Soaking in brine and then dehydrating would probably make them taste quite nice I'd imagine.
