Last winter I planted two almond trees. One is an All-in-one and the other is a Johnston Prolific. They were treated the same going in and after care the same. They are about 3 metres apart. They are both growing well but anytime we have a spell of hot weather all the new leaves on the Johnston curl up, dry out and die. There aren't any bugs attacking. The Johnston just doesn't seem to cope with hot weather as well as the other. As soon as the hot weather passes the tree happily sends out new shoots and looks healthy. As we are heading into a week of hot weather I have been giving the Johnston extra water. Any other thoughts appreciated
