What do you use that amount of turmeric for? I have a small batch growing, and you have piqued my curiosity. :)

Hi Spector,

I sprinkle turmeric on my salads, eggs, even my cauliflower before steaming.

Just made my 1st batch of bread & butter pickles and that recipe called for turmeric. I am also growing white turmeric we found at an Indian market, and REALLY like that it does not stain everything yellow.

Believe it or not, I have already used half of the harvest. Good thing I replanted twice as much as last year !

FYI, be sure to use it with fresh ground pepper to get the best health results.

Happy Gardening !

White turmeric sounds very cool! Mine is still a very small little batch, started from some leftover grocery store roots. I planted two areas, and only one came up (so far). Do you use a dehydrator to dry it out and then powder it?

Mine were slow to start this year, we had an unusually cool spring. I grow mine in containers for easy harvesting. Try middle eastern market for the white. I have heard there are black and blue varieties as well, good luck it will feel like a treasure hunt.

Have not invested in dehydrator yet, but it is on my wish list. dried over about 7 days then ground up in spice mill.

Well, I am in California, so LOTS of ethnic markets around here to hunt around in!
